Recipes for Success: Soup Cook-Off and Auction Friday October 17, 2008 5:30 p.m. at The Melody Ballroom $45 per person before October 10th.
Check back soon for more details on this year's event, which will be bigger and better than ever before!
On October 19th 2007, 285 guests tasted their way to a healthy community and celebrated SE Works' Ten Year Anniversary. The event raised nearly $42,000 to support SE Works' employment and training programs for youth and adults.
Held at the Melody Ballroom, the gala featured a soup tasting competition. Guests voted for their favorites using dollar bills. Heather Ficht from Worksystems created the soup that earned the most donations and won The Golden Ladle Award for the second year in a row. At the same time, celebrity judges--Multnomah County Chair Ted Wheeler, City Commissioner Sam Adams, Kerry DeBuse of Genoa and David Machado of Vindalho and Lauro Kitchen--voted for their favorites. They honored three outstanding soups made by Laura Bock of The Job Developers Network, Pam Butterworth of SE Works, and Patty Park of Portland Specialty Baking.
Our live and silent auctions featured San Francisco and Seattle get-aways, wonderful restaurants, hotels, wine tours, and much more.
