SE Works: Portland, Oregon-based workforce development organization

Portland, Oregon  Board of Directors

Established in 1997, SE Works is a community-based workforce development organization providing employment, training and supportive services. Our mission is to strengthen the economic health and well being of our diverse southeast Portland community by increasing access to employment, educational, and supportive services.

SE Works grew out of a community-based planning process begun in 1995 that identified a significant demand for workforce development services in southeast Portland. Since we opened our doors in May 1997, we've evolved into a strong organization, offering a range of resources to meet the employment and training needs of job seekers and employers. Despite our growth, we honor our origins as a neighborhood-based, grassroots organization. We remain true to the vision of creating a friendly, welcoming environment, providing "damn good" customer service, and bringing resources tailored to our diverse community.

Over the years, we've grown into a thriving and valued community resource thanks to the time, energy, and commitment from countless supporters - staff, board members, funders, community members, program partners, volunteers, and area employers. We are especially appreciative of Worksystems, Inc., the City of Portland Bureau of Housing and Community Development, Multnomah County, PGE Foundation, and United Way for their support of our on-going operations. We invite you to join us in our efforts to improve the health and well-being of our diverse community.
